According to her, during the reconstruction of the buildings, the aim will be to maintain as much authenticity as possible, to reveal and show various historical layers of the buildings, and to turn the complex’s environment into an attractive recreation and knowledge space for residents.

The authors of the idea of ​​organizing and implementing the palace complex invite residents to familiarize themselves with project proposalswhich will be presented on October 1. at 5 p.m. Stiklių str. 4.

The ideas for the arrangement and adaptation of the Kirdie Palace complex and environment to the Vilnius City Museum won the open architectural project competition and the technical project is being prepared by MB “Dukart jot”.

“The revival of the Kirdie Palace and its adaptation to the needs of the Vilnius Museum is an example of the preservation of historical heritage and the adaptation of city spaces to the citizens. Vilnius residents will not only be able to admire the renovated palace, but also enjoy new spaces for culture, recreation and events,” Vilnius City Mayor Valdas Benkunskas said in a statement.

According to the municipality, the architects propose to restore the former arcade openings in the main building, western and northern facades of the palace complex, demolish the existing brick fence in an emergency condition in the northern part of the complex and build an openwork metal fence in its place, which will open the view to the inner courtyard of the palace complex.

The buildings standing on Barboras Radvilaitė Street are the winter residence ensemble of noblemen of the beginning of the 17th century, which later became part of the Vilnius University Botanical Garden.

In 2004, the Vilnius municipality leased the buildings to businessmen. In 2005, the palace was added to the list of state-protected objects, together with it, the palace office and the carriage house were among the protected objects.

In the same year, the reconstruction project of the palace was prepared, on its basis the basement was expanded, reinforced concrete floors were poured, and other works were carried out, but due to the lack of documents, the construction permit was revoked and the works were stopped.
