Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is soon rolling out a new feature that will help users fed up with spam messages from individuals or groups.
WABetaInfo, a site that monitors WhatsApp updates, reported that one of the new changes seen in the new beta version 2.20.201.10 for Android devices is a feature called Always Mute.
This feature has been in the works for the past several months and now it seems that it will be available to all users very soon.
With the help of this feature users will be able to mute any contact or group notification forever.
At present, users who are bothered by constant notification of a group or contact are given 3 mute options by WhatsApp, i.e. the notification can be muted for 8 hours, a week or a year.
But in this feature, the one year option will be removed and will be replaced by the Always or Allways option.
To use this feature when available to all users, open WhatsApp and long press the desired chat, following which some icons will appear in the top bar.
If you select the Mute icon there, you will see the options of 8 hours, one week and allways, from which you have to click on your choice and click OK.
After doing this, notifications for that particular chat can be muted forever.
However, if the user wants to restore, he has to press the chat once more for a while and click on the menu or speaker icon.

By the way, if you are worried regarding people adding you to WhatsApp groups, you can enable a feature in the group privacy settings so that only certain people can add you to a new group.
Enabling this feature will cause users to receive an invitation to a group and not be able to add them directly.
To use this feature, open WhatsApp and go to settings, go to Account and then go to Groups in the privacy option and choose an option from Everyone, My Contacts or My Contacts Accept.
