Vatican City: Pope Francis said that it is not enough to be thankful for God’s blessings and to keep away from evil, but to do the good that is possible. The Pope’s call was made during a regular meeting with members of the Vatican Curia ahead of Christmas. The Pope’s sermon was regarding the importance of being constantly vigilant in life and was clear.
“We should not be satisfied with living away from evil, but strive to do as much good as possible. “We need not only to condemn evil, but to enable conversion of hearts,” the Pope exhorted. The Pope added that we must always be vigilant and avoid thinking that we are safe from evil.
The main danger that those who live for God’s service may encounter is the thought that they do not yet know more regarding the gospel. This is why this vigilance is all the more necessary. The Pope reminded us that continuous change like this is necessary because the temptations that we think we have overcome can come back in other ways.
Wishing for an end to the trumpets of war, the Pope called for an end not only to wars with missiles, but also wars of words, abuse of power and accusations. ‘Let the weapons of violence be laid aside before the Prince of Peace who is coming into the world. “One should also be careful not to use their position to defame another,” the Pope added.
