DECRYPTION – A Coxsackie B infection would trigger this autoimmune disease according to a study carried out by doctors at Cochin hospital in Paris.
Type 1 diabetes is a serious autoimmune disease appearing in children, adolescents and sometimes adults, which results in the cessation of insulin production by the pancreas. However, this hormone is essential to us because it allows our cells to absorb blood glucose. The origin of this dysfunction, long mysterious, would be a virus, in this case Coxsackie B, reveals an international study published in the journal Science Advances and led by the team of diabetologist Roberto Mallone from Cochin hospital in Paris.
