The Hong Kong Tourism Board is holding a New Year’s Eve countdown event tonight. The police expect a large number of people to celebrate along the coast of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon and tourist attractions. A series of road closures, diversions and crowd management measures will be implemented starting in the followingnoon.

In Kowloon, roads in the Tsim Sha Tsui area will be closed successively from 8:00 p.m., including the West Kowloon Cultural District and many roads in East Tsim Sha Tsui. The scope of road closures will be expanded in response to the flow of people, and crowd management measures will be implemented.

On Hong Kong Island, some roads in Lan Kwai Fong in the Central District will be closed in the followingnoon, and traffic diversions will be implemented near the Central Pier in the evening; roads in the Wan Chai Convention and Exhibition Center, Golden Bauhinia Square and Wan Chai North will be closed in the evening; the area around the Peak will also be closed depending on Road closure due to traffic.

In order to facilitate citizens to go out and celebrate, a number of public transport services will be strengthened tonight.
