It is confirmed, all iPhone 14 would not be equal in terms of power

The iPhone 14 and 14 Pro would not be in the same boat in terms of performance. A new source corroborates the track of an attribution of the new A16 Bionic processor only to the “Pro” models.

It hung in our face, it would be in the process of becoming a reality. A report shared on June 1 by the analysis firm TrendForce (Quoted by 9to5Mac) tends to corroborate thatApple would install its new A16 Bionic chip only on its iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. In circulation for a few months, this information initially comes from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

The person concerned estimated earlier this year that the iPhone 14 “Classic” would be content to embed an A15 chip, currently installed on board the iPhone 13. Only the iPhone 14 Pro would thus be equipped with Apple’s new generation SoC. If this information is true, the two series of iPhone 14 would therefore not have quite the same level of performance.

No A16 chip on the “classic” iPhone 14s: what if it wasn’t such a big problem?

Still, this difference – probably justified by supply chain concerns – might not be particularly disturbing in use. According to other information, the A16 Bionic chip would evolve little compared to the A15 : it would indeed resume the same engraving in 5 nm, rather than switching to the 4 nm node used in particular by Qualcomm on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. We should therefore not expect a big gain in performance on the A16, even if it is possible that the latter will be better controlled, especially from an energy point of view.

That said, there would still be something new for the “classic” iPhone 14s. According to TrendForce, the latter would take over the A15 chip, but this time coupled with 6 GB of LPDDR4X… instead of 4 GB on the iPhone 13. In terms of marketing, Apple might finally change the name of its A15 chip this year. to symbolize, in a rather artificial way, the “change” of generation.

Remember that the difference in configuration that we might observe between the “classic” and “Pro” iPhone 14s would not be entirely a first. Last year, Apple had indeed installed a different amount of RAM between its iPhone 13 (limited to 4 GB of RAM) and its iPhone 13 Pro (amount to 6 GB).
