During the Covid-19 pandemic, regular passenger transportation on ships in Riga ceased, and following the pandemic, due to the impact of the war in Ukraine, regular passenger traffic to the port of Riga was never restored. The port hopes that the new passenger terminal will attract shipping companies.
If all goes according to plan, the new terminal will open its doors to passengers in 2028.
