Amira Shehata Saturday, October 28, 2023 02:00 AM He threatened agents Apple TV Angry users have canceled their subscriptions, following news that the company is raising prices by up to 40%, and the change will raise the monthly cost from £6.99 to £8.99 in the UK, and from $6.99 to $9.99 in the US.

According to the British Daily Mail, some customers say they are willing to pay for the new higher price of Apple TV+ to continue watching popular shows like Ted Lasso and The Morning Show. However, many have criticized the changes, with some arguing that Apple does not have… Enough high-quality content to justify paying more.

“Apple TV+ is perfectly priced for a service that includes a good selection of worthwhile originals and zero library…it’s not worth $9.99,” one angry customer wrote to X (formerly Twitter).

Launched in 2019, Apple TV+ has produced a number of original shows but hasn’t had the decades to build out a catalog like Netflix or reach historic libraries like Disney+.

“I like some Apple TV shows, but they don’t have the content to justify it,” one user wrote. Another added: “I’ve used two free three-month promotions for Apple TV this year, and rarely found anything worth watching.”

“It will be cancelled,” one commenter said, adding: “The few shows out there that are worth watching are great, but once you finish them, why keep watching?” Frustration with the service’s high prices has led many commenters to threaten to cancel their subscriptions.

“It’s time to cancel,” one user tweeted, while another added that Apple TV was “on track to cancel,” and another simply wrote: “Goodbye @Apple.”

The price increases will begin affecting existing Apple TV customers within 30 days, starting with the following renewal dates.

Apple News+ is also increasing from $9.99 (£9.99) per month to $12.99 while the Apple One package, which includes access to Apple Music, TV and Arcade, will now cost $19.95 per month, up from $16.95.

By raising prices, Apple joins other big names in streaming in raising the costs of monthly subscriptions. Average monthly costs for streaming services have risen 25% year over year according to an analysis by The Wall Street Journal.

This month, Netflix increased the price of its most expensive subscription service by 10%, bringing the cost to $23. Meanwhile, the price of an ad-free Disney+ plan rose to $13.99, while Hulu’s ad-free subscription is now $17.99.
