It does exist! Samsung’s QD-OLED TV should score with HDMI 2.1 and 144Hz

Samsung 65 inch QD display TV receives a CES Innovation Award 2022

Samsung Electronics is still keeping a low profile on the QD-OLED TV (QD Display TV). Receiving the CES Innovation Award 2022 proves that it really does exist.

Samsung has a product with new display technology up its sleeve and isn’t announcing it at CES 2022? My guess is that the TV manufacturer does not want to jeopardize sales of its UHD, QLED and NEO QLED televisions because undecided buyers may be waiting to see when or at what price the Samsung QD-OLED TV will come onto the market. I can’t think of any other explanation at the moment. It is also not clear whether the CES Innovation Award for the “Samsung 65 ″ QD-DISPLAY TV” should already go online, or whether this is perhaps a mistake. The placeholder picture definitely suggests that the jury has probably not yet seen a final product (like so many other products).

The Infinity One design will be expanded to include four 2022 model series!
The QD-OLED-TV (QD-Display TV) from Samsung is to rely on the Ifinity One design, like this year’s 8K models and the 75QN95B (4K).

Best of Innovation: Samsung 65 QD-Display TV

In this case, the text in which the jury explains why they gave the Samsung QD-OLED-TV a CES Innovation Award 2022 in the “Best of Innovation” category is more interesting anyway. The description states that the Samsung QD-Display TV is the world’s first, real, self-illuminating Quantum Dot OLED display with an RGB pixel matrix. This is supposed to revolutionize the TV market by combining the black level and contrast of OLED with the colors and peak brightness of Quantum Dot for the ultimate display. The text looks like it was written by a Samsung product manager.

Infinity One Design, 144Hz and four HDMI 2.1 ports

The second paragraph is more to our liking. In this it is reported that the Samsung QD OLED TV can come up with the chic Infinity One design including object tracking sound technology. In addition, the TV has probably built in your 2022 Neo Quantum processor, supports a maximum frame rate of 144Hz and comes with four HDMI 2.1 connections (probably via a One Connect Box). Sounds exciting.

It is assumed that Samsung with the QD display TV can compete with the dominant OLED televisions from LG, Sony, Philips, Panasonic and Co. in the above categories, but surpasses them in some respects. However, the QD-OLED-TV is possibly less of a revolution than a meaningful evolution. In a video from CNET you might already admire a prototype with a QD display. (see picture above). You can guess a better color representation from the picture, but you certainly have to see the technology with your own eyes to get a comprehensive picture.

According to the spokesman for the video, Samsung is currently still testing the displays thoroughly in order to exclude, for example, temporary or permanent impairments of the image such as burn-in (burn-in) or ghost images. The service life (possibly loss of brightness over time) is also an issue that the Samsung engineers focus on. It is speculated that the TV should also be in the range of LG’s OLED TVs. QD-OLED is not only used in TV sets, the first monitors have also been announced for the product year 2022.
