At the beginning of the year, UAZ announced the expansion of its own production. In general, these words were confirmed. Relatively recently, Sollers concern, which owns the brand, announced the start of assembly of the JAC T6 pickup truck. Its release is planned to be organized at a plant in Vladivostok, where the production of vehicles of the Japanese brand Mazda was established before. In addition, JAC commercial vehicles are already being assembled, as well as turbocharged diesel units. In general, it is clear that both brands are expanding interaction with each other.
There is an assumption that JAC cars can be used to design completely new models of the UAZ plant. However, in this case we are not talking about full copying. For new items, they use the architecture from the current JAC T6, but they will be structurally different. In particular, the dimensions will be changed upwards, and the body will be designed from scratch.
In general, it will be a completely new car, but with a ready-made platform. On the other hand, in visual terms, one can find similarities with the current models of the plant. As for the technical characteristics of the UAZ-469 “Grand” 2024, here we should expect a new turbocharged diesel engine, the production of which was recently launched. Its return will be at the level of 138 hp. It will be paired with all-wheel drive and a manual transmission, although automatic transmissions can also be installed.
The new SUV will be assembled at the plant in Vladivostok, where the JAC T6 will also be produced. The premiere of new items should be expected no earlier than next year. How much the car will cost is still unknown.
