Istanbul: Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu announced that the suspect in the explosion in Istanbul has been arrested. This was revealed through the Twitter account of the government news agency Anadolu.
Six people were killed and 81 injured in an explosion on the busy pedestrian street of Istiklal Avenue in central Istanbul at 4.20pm local time on Sunday. Four died at the scene and two died in hospital.
Istiklal Avenue is a busy thoroughfare lined with shops and restaurants popular with tourists and locals alike. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan described the explosion as a dangerous attack.
