The National Institute of Cancerology (INCan) of Mexico, awarded the La Ceiba Comprehensive Ambulatory Care Specialized Center of the Social Security Institute (ISSS), the certification as: “Integrative Palliative Care Center in Oncology”, for excellence in service of care for cancer patients.
The recognition was granted within the framework of the executive meeting of the OncoPaliativa Network, where the ISSS Palliative Care team highlighted the care model implemented at the La Ceiba Specialized Center; whose fundamental pillar is home admission as an alternative to hospitalization.
This certification strengthens the professional training of doctors and the ties of cooperation in health matters in the region, in addition to benefiting users by guaranteeing quality services.
The Palliative Care program has a registry of 1,670 patients, to whom 6,055 visits and support services have been provided, such as psychological care, social work efforts, hospital consultations, compliance with medications and performance of minor procedures.
