Tel Aviv> Human Rights Watch says Israel has used white phosphorus munitions in military operations in Gaza and Lebanon. White phosphorus was used in the Gaza City port and in two rural areas on the Israel-Lebanon border. Human Rights Watch said that this was confirmed following examining the videos in Lebanon on the 10th and Gaza on the 11th. The use of such weapons can cause serious and long-term health problems. White phosphorus is considered an incendiary weapon under Protocol 3 of the Convention on the Prohibition of the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons. The Protocol prohibits the use of incendiary weapons in populated areas. It is not signed by Israel. Read on deshabhimani.com
