Israel’s response is exaggerated – EURACTIV.pl

Joe Biden has said that the Israeli response to the Hamas attack is exaggerated and calls on the Israeli Prime Minister for a ceasefire.

The United States has so far supported Israel in its war once morest Hamas and defended it once morest criticism from other countries that have accused Israel of disproportionate response to the Hamas attack.

However, it seems that the US is running out of patience with the government Benjamin Netanyahu. Yesterday (February 8) the president Joe Biden he openly criticized Israel’s actions and called for a ceasefire.

– I believe that the response in Gaza is exaggerated – said the American president.

Biden also said he was pressing the government in Jerusalem to allow increased humanitarian aid for the Palestinians and to agree to a ceasefire to release the hostages.

– I am very much pushing for a ceasefire and hostage deal. Many innocent people are starving, many innocent people have problems and die. This must end, he said.

In recent days, Hamas proposed a ceasefire to Israel, under which Israeli troops were to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and an exchange of hostages and bodies of the dead was to take place.

Many countries assessed the proposal positively, but Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu firmly rejected it and announced that the end of the war would only be possible following the complete destruction of Hamas.

– Today I told Blinken (US Secretary of State – ed.) that following the destruction of Hamas, we will ensure that Gaza will always be a safe area. History has proven that only one power can achieve this – Israel, he said.
