Tel Aviv: The Israeli Central Bureau of Statistics reports that the unemployment rate in Israel is rising following the war with Hamas. There were 1,63,600 unemployed in September and 4,28,400 in October.

This also affected the economic growth rate of the country. The growth rate is expected to be only 2.3 percent in the last quarter of 2023. This is much lower than the target. Employment decreased by 18 percent due to the war.

Employment opportunities for hotel waiters and bar tenders are the lowest at 28 percent and for chefs at 24 percent. The decrease in computer programming jobs is 12 percent. However, there is a severe labor shortage in the construction sector as Palestinian nationals are denied entry and foreign nationals leave the country.

There has been a nine percent increase in jobs like masons and tile workers. Most of these jobs were done by Palestinians.
