Lebanon’s Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said Israel has crossed the line by exploding thousands of pagers in various parts of the country. Nasrallah has accused Israel of being involved in recent attacks that have left scores dead in Lebanon.

“What happened on Tuesday and Wednesday (September 18). I just want to give you a summary because you all know what happened, thousands of pagers were targeted by our Israeli enemy, and they were all blown up at the same time. Our enemy violated, through this attack, all the rules, laws and restrictions,” Nasrallah said, as reported by VoA, Friday (September 20).

Hezbollah bought walkie-talkies five months ago, around the same time it bought pagers, a security source said. At least 37 people were killed and more than 3,000 wounded when pagers and later walkie-talkies used by Hezbollah members exploded in two waves of attacks on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Lebanon and Hezbollah said Israel carried out the attack. The AP reported that hundreds of people attended the funeral of two Hezbollah fighters, Fadel Abbas Bazzi and Ahmad Ali Hassan, on Thursday. The two were among those killed in attacks on pagers and walkie-talkies on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Mourners carry two coffins during a procession at the Al Hawraa cemetery on the southern outskirts of Beirut. Mariam Darwish, a Hezbollah supporter from southern Lebanon, said the attack had no impact on them or scared them.

“On the contrary, it increases morale, strength, determination and the will to confront the Zionist enemy and let them know that we are strong. No matter what you try to do, you will not be able to scare us. We will continue our marches and celebrations, and we will continue singing, here we serve you, Hussein. Here you serve you, Nasrallah,” Darwish said. (I-2)
