While the families of Israeli prisoners held by Hamas are impatiently awaiting any truce that includes their release, Israeli Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir rejected the matter.

The minister, known for his controversial stances, saw the need to reject the potential prisoner exchange deal between Israel and the movement, considering that releasing Palestinians in Israeli prisons is a big mistake that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will commit, according to the Israeli newspaper Maariv.

He said, “If the Palestinian prisoners are released before the month of Ramadan, it will be a shame.”

He pointed out that if the purpose of releasing Palestinian prisoners was to relieve prison overcrowding, then it would be preferable to release Jewish thieves and tax violators, and not those he described as terrorists, in reference to Palestinian prisoners.

He also blamed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stressing that he was making a big mistake by giving the Palestinians an image of victory, according to his claim.

It is noteworthy that a senior official in the administration of US President Joe Biden announced that Israel supports a six-week ceasefire and the release of prisoners, and they are now awaiting the response of the Hamas leadership.

Meanwhile, Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath sources reported that Hamas will deliver its final response to the plan to the mediators in the coming hours.
