Israeli researchers have succeeded in developing a messenger RNA vaccine capable of protecting mice from the plague bacillus. A feat, because bacteria are a much more difficult vaccine target than viruses. And hope in the face of the major public health problem of antibiotic resistance.
The messenger RNA technology, which has enabled the development of vaccines once morest Covid-19, is available in many medical applications, ranging from cancer to the cardiovascular field via the flu. An Israeli team recently succeeded in developing a first effective RNA vaccine in another type of indication: the plague.
