Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared this Sunday (01/21/2024) that he had rejected the conditions demanded by Hamas to release the hostages, hours after the Palestinian terrorist movement published a report on its attack on Israel on October 7.

“In exchange for the release of our hostages, Hamas demands the end of the war, the withdrawal of our forces from Gaza, the release of all murderers and rapists,” Netanyahu said in a video.

“If we accept this, our soldiers will have fallen in vain. If we accept this, we will not be able to guarantee the safety of our citizens,” he warned.

A deal negotiated in late November by the United States, Qatar and Egypt led to the release of more than 100 of the estimated 240 hostages who were taken captive to Gaza during the Hamas militants’ Oct. 7 invasion, in exchange for release of 240 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.

Since this deal ended, Netanyahu has faced increasing pressure to secure the release of the 136 hostages who remain in captivity.
