Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu acknowledged – on Sunday – that Israel is “paying a heavy price” in the war that has been taking place in the Gaza Strip since last October 7, with the killing of 15 Israeli soldiers since Friday.

Netanyahu said at the beginning of the weekly government meeting, “This morning is difficult following a day in which we faced very great difficulties as a result of the fighting in Gaza. The war is costing us a very heavy price, but we have no choice but to continue fighting.”

He added, “We will continue with all our strength, until victory, until we achieve all our goals: destroying Hamas, recovering the hostages, and ensuring that Gaza will not pose any future threat to Israel,” stressing that the war is long and Israel will fight until the end until its goals are achieved.

In a separate statement on Sunday, Netanyahu stressed that Israel is doing what it can to protect its soldiers. He said, “We are intensifying the war deep in the Gaza Strip… We will do everything possible to protect the lives of our soldiers. But… we will not stop until victory is achieved.”

The Israeli army announced on Sunday the killing of an additional soldier in the Gaza Strip, bringing to 15 the number of its members killed since last Friday during battles with the Palestinian resistance in Gaza.

This is the largest death toll for the Israeli army in a short period of time since the start of the war. 154 Israeli soldiers have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the start of the ground operation on October 27.
