Israeli police acquits settlers who burned houses and vehicles in Hawara – Sathyam Online

Ramallah: Israeli police on Friday released all the settlers arrested in connection with the February 26 burning of houses and vehicles in the occupied West Bank town of Hawara.

The website reported that law enforcement officials said they had found no evidence linking the migrants to the attacks. Around 100 cars and 35 houses were destroyed in the attack. More than 40 houses were partially gutted.

Israeli sources also said that the two migrants, who were held in administrative detention by order of the Ministry of Defense, would be released at any moment. Hamas spokesman Hasim Qasim said the release of the migrants was proof of the Israeli judiciary’s complicity in covering up the crime.

Israeli forces also fired stun grenades and tear gas on Friday to prevent Israeli activists from holding a solidarity rally in Hawara. Protesters also said soldiers pressed their knees into the necks and backs of demonstrators.
