Hamas issued the following statement on the Telegram channel of the messaging software: “(Hamas’ armed wing) Izz el-Deen Al-Qassam Brigades estimates that due to the Zionist attack The number of prisoners who died in the Gaza Strip due to the massacre has reached nearly 50.”
AFP might not immediately verify Hamas’s claims.
Before the Hamas armed wing raised the above-mentioned death toll, Israel sent tanks, troops, and armored bulldozers into the Gaza corridor overnight to conduct “targeted attacks.” The Israeli military said they evacuated following destroying multiple locations.
Hamas suddenly launched an attack on the 7th, and a large number of gunmen poured into Israel from Gaza. According to Israeli official statistics, more than 1,400 people, mainly civilians, were killed and 224 people were kidnapped.
Israel has continued to bomb Gaza in retaliation. The Ministry of Health in Gaza, controlled by Hamas, said that Israeli air strikes have killed more than 7,000 people, most of whom were civilians. The death toll is expected to rise significantly if Israeli forces massed along the border advance toward Gaza.
As the Gaza War, the bloodiest in Israel’s history, enters its 20th day, Lynne Hastings, the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator for the Palestinian Autonomous Region, said that although the Israeli military warned residents of Gaza City to leave quickly, it ” Warnings are of no use.”
Hastings said in a statement that when evacuation routes are bombed, people have no choice and “nowhere in Gaza is safe.” (Central News Agency, Ganyounis, southern Gaza Corridor, 26th)
