Our newspaper interviewed Ann, a Taiwanese graduate student in Israel, yesterday. She said that she had experienced four air raid sirens the day before yesterday, and an explosion occurred in an area fifteen minutes away from her home. Although the locals were accustomed to the sirens, this time they realized that the situation was unusual. Many people I dare not go out, “only delivery people are left on the road.”

The Ministry of Education said yesterday that following consulting with the representative office in Israel, all 22 Chinese students studying abroad were safe.

This newspaper interviewed Ann, who currently lives in Tel Aviv, the second largest city in central Israel. She bluntly said that “this time is completely different from the past.” Especially her friends and neighbors in Israel told her that in the past, the conflicts ended instantly, but this time it was very serious.

Ann recalled that she hid from four air raid sirens the day before yesterday. The apartment she lived in did not have a bomb shelter and she had to hide in the stairwell. She said that when she went out near her home, there were no people on the road. Instead, she saw many police stationed in key areas and police cars patrolling the road. She said that the southern part of the country was the main area hit by attacks, but an explosion also occurred regarding fifteen minutes’ walk from her home.

Ann said that the day of the raid was the Sabbath in Israel, and all Israelis were on holiday. A friend’s family was attending a music festival in the south, and was kidnapped and shot by Hamas. The friend’s brother was also shot and returned home wounded, ” Fortunately, I got home safely.”

The Tourism Administration of the Ministry of Transport of China stated that there are still three Taiwanese tour groups in Israel, with a total of 74 people, and all tourists are safe.
