Israeli military vehicles operate in southern Gaza as people look for a place to go. This is what you should know
Senior UN officials have warned of an “apocalyptic” situation in Gaza, as the population has been left without a safe place to go, while the Israeli army expands its military campaign in the territory.
The warning comes as satellite photos show dozens of Israeli armored vehicles now operating in southern Gaza.
The images, obtained by CNN on Tuesday, show the vehicles west of Salah El-Din Street, Gaza’s main north-south route, regarding six kilometers north of the center of Khan Younis.
Israel has asked Palestinians in some areas of southern Gaza to leave, publishing digital maps that residents say are confusing or to which they cannot access due to a lack of electricity and internet connection.
Early in the war, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) encouraged Gaza residents to move to the south of the territory for their safety, while pledging to attack Hamas “wherever it is.”

People in Gaza hunting for food: An apparent Israeli airstrike on Monday destroyed the Al-Baraka bakery in the central Gaza city of Deir al-Balah, one of the few remaining in the territory. Without it, people desperately search for food in the rubble.
Surrounded refugee camp: Israeli troops have “completed the encirclement” of the Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza, the Israeli army reported on Tuesday, as it seeks to complete its offensive operations once morest Hamas militants in the north of the territory. More UN workers killed: The United Nations aid agency in Gaza, UNRWA, has confirmed the deaths of another 19 workers. Their deaths bring to 130 the total number of UNRWA staff killed in Gaza since October 7.
The bodies lie in the hospital: There are 108 bodies lying – some unclaimed – in the Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza, according to the territory’s Ministry of Health, controlled by Hamas. In the last 24 hours, Israeli troops have been advancing towards the center, with intense shootings and explosions in its vicinity.
Man murdered in refugee camp: A 25-year-old Palestinian has been shot dead by the Israeli army during new clashes in the Qalandia refugee camp, in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health reported on Tuesday.
Israeli soldiers die: Three Israeli soldiers have been killed in combat in Gaza, bringing the total number of IDF deaths in the strip to 72 since the ground offensive began, it was reported on Tuesday.
