Israeli man killed in the West Bank

The attack in the settlement of Kedumim came three days after a deadly raid in the nearby Palestinian village of Jit.

It was a 38-year-old Israeli security guard who was attacked with a hammer by a 21-year-old Palestinian at the Israeli factory where they both worked, according to the newspaper Haaretz.

– After several attempts to save his life, he was pronounced dead after biting the wound in an attack, says the Beilinson hospital.

The 21-year-old took the victim’s weapon and drove away after the attack, writes Haaretz. The Israeli army says soldiers are looking for him.

The violence in the West Bank has escalated since the war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas broke out in October last year.

On Tuesday, around 100 settlers armed with knives and firearms attacked the village of Jit in the north of the West Bank. A 23-year-old Palestinian was killed, according to the health authorities, and cars and homes were set on fire.

The attack on Jit was condemned by both the Israeli authorities and the United States, the United Nations and European countries. The settlements on the West Bank are illegal according to international law.

The latest attack comes as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in Israel on a Middle East tour aimed at increasing diplomatic pressure to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.
