The Israeli army launched air and artillery bombardments on villages in southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah continued to bomb Israeli settlements and sites adjacent to the border.

Yesterday evening, Sunday, the Israeli bombing targeted the towns of Kafr Kila and Blida in the Marjayoun district.

The official Lebanese News Agency said that the enemy (Israeli) warplanes launched a raid, targeting the Old Cemetery neighborhood in Kafr Kila with two missiles.

She added, “The outskirts of Blida are being subjected to artillery shelling,” without further details.

Earlier, the agency reported that “enemy warplanes launched two raids on the southern Ayta al-Shaab, the first targeting the outskirts of the northern town in the vicinity of Khallet Warda, while the second targeted the center of the town.”

She explained that ambulances headed to Aita al-Shaab in anticipation of any emergency.

The agency also reported that the skies over the towns of Tire District (south) are witnessing intense flights of Israeli warplanes and drones.

On the other hand, Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that two missiles were fired from southern Lebanon towards an Israeli site in the Upper Galilee.

Direct injuries

The Israeli army said that it had monitored a number of rocket launches from Lebanon towards northern Israel, noting that its planes bombed a military complex “and Hezbollah infrastructure” in the Aita al-Shaab and Kafr Kila regions.

Earlier, Hezbollah announced that it targeted the Israeli military site of Jal al-Alam with a Burkan missile, confirming a direct hit, while the Israeli occupation forces continued their bombing of southern Lebanon.

The party said – in a statement – that its fighters targeted the Jal al-Alam site with a Burkan missile (short-range with great destructive capacity) and hit it directly, without additional details.

He explained that his attack came “in support of the steadfast Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and in support of their valiant resistance.”

This came following Al Jazeera’s correspondent reported that sirens were sounding in the settlements of Betzat and Shlomi in the Western Galilee.

American envoy

In the same context, US envoy Amos Hockstein arrives in Beirut today, Monday, “to continue diplomatic efforts aimed at stopping the escalation of the conflict across the Lebanese-Israeli border and achieving stability.”

Elias Bou Saab, Deputy Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, said he believes the timing of Hochstein’s visit indicates the progress made in efforts to reach a truce in Gaza “in the next few hours or days.”

He added, “If this happens, I think that Hochstein’s visit this time will be of great importance to keep up with the truce on our southern borders, and to discuss what is required for stability and to end the possibility of expanding the war with Lebanon.”
