(CNN) By the 10th, the Israeli Air Force had mentioned that there have been frequent cross-border military conflicts with the Islamic militant group Hezbollah, which has established a base in neighboring Lebanon, and that Israeli Air Force aircraft deployed over the country have been suspended. He predicted that the number of aircraft would increase from the current dozen to hundreds within minutes following the order is issued.

Major General Barr of the Air Force spoke in front of military officers and soldiers. Air Force aircraft currently operating in Lebanon’s skies represent a small portion of its military force. If given the order, hundreds of aircraft would be ready to fly any mission over Lebanon within minutes, he said.

He also pointed out that the word “attack” does not adequately describe what would actually happen if war broke out in Lebanon. He also warned that large-scale airstrikes would hit hundreds of targets simultaneously “deep into Lebanon.”

In an earlier statement, the Israeli military also said that soldiers who fought in the Gaza Strip were currently undergoing combat training along the Lebanese border.

After fighting in Gaza, the 36th Division is now ramping up its preparations for operations once morest “the enemy on the northern border,” he said, adding that this will involve both offensive and defensive operations.
