Photo of Israeli grandmother with Hamas fighter who held her hostage goes viral. The photo of the fighter holding an AK-47 was shared on X by Jackson Hinkle, a Palestinian outreach worker. Jackson says in his Twitter bio that he is an exposer of propaganda.

Those who were released earlier stated that Hamas treated the hostages with respect. 85-year-old Israelis Yosheved Lifshitz and 79-year-old Nurit Cooper were released by Hamas due to their health conditions. Yosheved Lifshitz, who was released, said that he was treated in a friendly manner and that there was someone there to look following everything.

After his release, Lifshitz told the media that he believed that Hamas had a long-term plan to hide the hostages for a long time. ‘There were security personnel to look following each of the hostages. They looked following everything. They talked to us regarding everything. Their behavior was very friendly. They gave us bread and butter. Low-fat curd and kakiri were our daily meals. They seem well prepared. For them to hide us for a long time.’- they said.

‘They took us to the tunnel. Walked for kilometers in wet mud. There is a huge tunnel system that stretches out like a spider web. On their arrival, they said that they believed in the Qur’an and would not be harmed. They said they might live as one of them, in their same condition in the tunnel. They brought doctors to those who needed them. We were lying in bed. They made sure everything was clean.’ – she added.

They also recalled the October 7 attack. ‘There was a big attack on us in the kibbutz. I was taken through the forest on a motorcycle. It was difficult to breathe. We were taken away by breaking the electric fence built at a cost of 2.5 billion. The mob ransacked the houses. Some were beaten. Some were taken hostage. It was very painful. That’s how he came before the tunnel.’ – said Lifshitz.

A video of them shaking hands with a Hamas fighter during their release went viral on social media. When asked regarding this, Lifshitz replied that the Hamas forces behaved in a friendly manner. Their transfer was through Red Cross. But Lifshitz’s response angered Israel. Some sources told the Israeli state-owned Cannes News that Lifshitz’s interview was a ‘mistake’. It said there would not have been a ‘preliminary meeting’ with Lifshitz before the press statement and that if one had been held ‘all questions’ would not have been involved. This was reported by Middle East Eye.

Meanwhile, Hamas has released a video of the three hostages and promised to release the prisoners. A video released by Hamas also shows one of the hostages criticizing the Israeli government in Hebrew. But Israel has not yet responded in this regard.

The hostages are addressing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the video. ‘You are leaving us to be killed. You are using this attack for your political gain. Hamas soldiers did not see your army or you when they attacked us.’ In this video, the captives speak emotionally.

At the same time, the Jerusalem Post, a pro-government newspaper in Israel, has given news in this regard that Hamas’s is a propaganda video. Hamas had made a similar promise to Israel earlier. The matter was discussed in the Israeli cabinet at that time, but no decision was made.

It is reported that 220 people were taken hostage in the Israeli attack carried out by Hamas crossing the border on October 7. Hamas had released the two American citizens days earlier. Hamas says it is releasing the hostages on humanitarian grounds.
