Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has once once more rejected the possibility of a ceasefire in Gaza as long as Hamas holds hostages. In an interview with >, however, he opened the door to “tactical breaks” to allow ” goods, humanitarian products to enter, or our hostages, individual hostages to leave”Mr. Netanyahu said that Israel should take “for an indefinite period, general responsibility for security” in the Palestinian territory following the war. Car “When we do not have this responsibility for security, we see the eruption of Hamas terror”he justified. The United Nations (UN) Security Council, which for a month has rejected four draft resolutions, failing to speak with one voice, met once more on Monday, without result. According to diplomatic sources, council members are notably divided on how to call for an interruption of the war, between “humanitarian ceasefire”, “truce” or « pause ».The Palestinian Red Crescent announced that it had received 93 trucks of humanitarian aid from the Egyptian Red Crescent at the Rafah crossing point on Monday. A total of 565 aid trucks have been able to enter the Gaza Strip since October 21.The health ministry in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip reports 10,022 deaths, since the start of the war, most of them civilians. This information might not be independently verified, but according to the Pentagon, thousands of civilians have been injured or killed in Gaza. The « catastrophe » caused by the war between Israel and Hamas “makes the need for a humanitarian ceasefire more urgent with each passing hour”pleaded the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, describing Gaza as “a cemetery for children”.
