Israeli forces stormed Al Jazeera offices

Qatar TV channel Al Jazeera said on Sunday morning Israeli forces by West Bank raided his office in Ramallah and ordered him to stop working for the next 45 days.

The channel on Sunday aired live footage of Israeli soldiers disrupting broadcasts and storming its offices and ordering Al Jazeera TV staff to shut down.

According to the Reuters news agency, the organization of Palestinian journalists condemned the Israeli move in a statement and said, “This arbitrary military decision is considered a new action against journalists and those media works that are used against the Palestinian people by the occupying forces.” are exposing crimes.’

Earlier in May this year, Israeli authorities raided Al Jazeera’s office in a hotel in occupied Jerusalem and decided to shut down its operations, saying it posed a ‘threat’ to national security.

According to AFP, an Israeli soldier told Al Jazeera’s West Bank bureau chief Waleed al-Omari: “Al Jazeera has been ordered by the court to close for 45 days.”

In the Al Jazeera footage, the Israeli official can be heard saying, ‘I ask you to take all your cameras and leave the office at once.’

The footage shows heavily armed and masked soldiers entering the office.

The broadcaster said troops did not provide a reason for the closure order.

The move was Israel’s latest action against Al Jazeera. Last week, the Israeli government announced that it was revoking the press credentials of Al Jazeera journalists in the country.
