The Palestinian Wafa News Agency reported that, on Monday evening, Israeli forces killed 3 Palestinians in the city of Tulkarm in the West Bank, and that the body of one of them was run over by an Israeli military vehicle.
On Tuesday, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the Israeli army’s “run over” the body of a young man following killing him and two others, on Monday, in the city of Tulkarm in the northern West Bank, following video clips were circulated documenting the incident.
Video footage circulated on social media showed a military vehicle running over the body of a man, before continuing on its way.
The Al-Hurra channel website was unable to confirm the authenticity of the video. The Israeli army did not immediately respond to Al-Hurra website’s request to comment on the story reported by Wafa Agency. The Israeli army also did not respond directly to AFP’s request for comment.
The Palestinian Agency reported, “An Israeli special force, accompanied by large army forces, raided the Aktaba suburb of Tulkarm, and fired heavily at a vehicle parked in the place,” before surrounding a house and killing the three young men in its vicinity.
According to the same source, Israeli forces “prevented Red Crescent vehicles from reaching the three dead, at gunpoint.” Ambulance crews were not able to reach the area until following the Israeli forces withdrew from it.
The Israeli army, police, and Internal Security Service (Shin Bet) said in a statement, Monday evening, that they entered Ektaba to “arrest a wanted terrorist activist.” They added: “An exchange of fire began between the terrorists and the forces, which led to the killing of 3 militants who tried to flee.”
The West Bank has witnessed an escalation in violence since the outbreak of war, on October 7, between Israel and the Hamas movement that rules Gaza.
Since the outbreak of the war, at least 330 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli army or settler fire in the West Bank, according to Health Ministry figures. On the other hand, the Israeli army says that its military activities in the West Bank are aimed at “pursuing those wanted on terrorist charges.”
