Israel held a briefing for several countries on this subject of establishing a military position for Hezbollah beyond the blue line. The purpose of the meeting was not to ask them to solve the problem through diplomatic channels but rather to let them know that Tel Aviv was aware of the situation and would not remain without reacting for long. So far, Israel has only turned to UNIFIL, the UN interim force in Lebanon, to settle the matter.
MK and former Israeli army chief of staff Gadi Eizenkot warned that crossing the blue line was a violation of Israeli sovereignty by Hezbollah.
Meanwhile, the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, reported on Thursday morning that the Shiite movement informed all parties that contacted it regarding two tents erected on the other side of the Blue Line, that it is of Lebanese land occupied by Israel. According to Hezbollah, “Lebanon has the right to access it, whether it is its official institutions or its residents”. The newspaper claims that Hezbollah, which has not yet published an official response to this, refuses to leave the area and has even strengthened its hold there.
According to Israeli authorities, Hezbollah had crossed the blue line in the area of Mount Dov, in the Golan, and had established a military position there. The Israeli army spokesman said the problem was considered “serious” and was being dealt with by the relevant authorities.
