A young Lebanese man was martyred in an Israeli bombing that targeted the vicinity of his house in the border town of Kafr Kila in southern Lebanon this Wednesday evening.
The official National News Agency reported, “Citizen Hassan Ali Tawil was martyred as a result of an Israeli artillery shell falling near his house” in Kafr Kila.
This comes as the Lebanese Hezbollah announced targeting the Israeli sites of Al-Marj and Al-Jardah, confirming direct casualties.
Hezbollah also mourned one of its fighters following an Israeli bombing targeted his house in the border town of Kafr Shuba at dawn.
On the other hand, Israeli artillery bombed the surroundings of the towns of Maroun al-Ras and Aitaroun in southern Lebanon.
The occupation forces also dropped flares over the towns of Al-Dahaira and Yarin, coinciding with a sweeping campaign from the Al-Jardah site towards Al-Dahaira and the forests of Yarin and Al-Bustan, amid an intense flight of reconnaissance aircraft.
Israeli artillery shells fell between the towns of Kafr Kila and Dermamas, while artillery shelling targeted the eastern outskirts of the town of Umm al-Tut in the western sector, and the Jabal Balat area in the outskirts of Marwahin.
Israeli warplanes also launched raids on the town of Beit Lev and the Labouneh forests east of Naqoura, while a drone raided the outskirts of Marwahin and Ramiya.
Germany pledges to support the Lebanese army to strengthen its control over the borders
In addition, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock pledged in Beirut to provide 15 million euros ($16 million) to support the Lebanese army.
Birbock, who is visiting Beirut, explained that the aid, which will be allocated to purchasing fuel and taking measures in the medium term, including training soldiers to monitor the border, aims to help the Lebanese army better secure the southern border with Israel.
She said in statements on the sidelines of her visit to a German frigate in the port of Beirut that the army must be able to exercise “effective control” in the region in order to “contain armed militias and terrorist organizations,” as she put it.
Since the start of the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, the Lebanese-Israeli border has witnessed a daily exchange of bombing between Hezbollah and the occupation army.
The party announces that it is targeting Israeli military sites and points in support of Gaza and “in support of its resistance,” while the Israeli army responds with air and artillery bombardment, which it says targets the party’s “infrastructure” and the movements of fighters near the border.
Since the start of the escalation on both sides of the border, 188 people have been martyred in Lebanon, including 141 party members and more than 20 civilians, including three journalists.
For its part, the occupation army counted the killing of 14 people, including nine soldiers.
