Israeli authorities issue statement on use of airport in Cyprus during attack on Lebanon

News networks and Telegram channels reported that “an Israeli warplane made an emergency landing at an airport in Cyprus.”

“Contrary to recent reports, Israeli airlines are operating as usual in landings and take-offs, and there are no diversions of flights to other countries,” the Israeli aviation authorities said in a statement.

Last June, the Secretary-General of the Lebanese factions warned the Cypriot government against opening its facilities to Israel if war broke out in Lebanon.

The Secretary-General added: “Israel believes that if its airports are targeted, it will use Cypriot airports and facilities. Therefore, the Cypriot government must know that opening Cypriot airports and bases for war on Lebanon will make the party treat Cyprus as if it were part of the war.”

The intensity of the Israeli bombing of Lebanon increased yesterday, Monday, as Israeli aircraft carried out more than 200 raids on southern towns. The bombing also extended to the Bekaa region in addition to the city of Byblos for the first time.

RT’s correspondent reported that messages were being sent to Lebanese citizens’ phones from Israel stating the following: “If you are in a building that contains weapons belonging to the Lebanese factions, stay away from the village until further notice.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to carry out more attacks and expand military operations in Lebanon, considering that what Israel is doing is “changing the balance of power.”

More than 200 people were killed and 700 others were injured, including children, women and paramedics, as a result of the violent and unprecedented Israeli raids on towns and villages in southern and eastern Lebanon, according to a new toll announced by the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
