Israeli Authorities Evict Al-Aqsa Mosque Imam and Former Grand Mufti Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, Home Faces Demolition

Jerusalem: Al-Aqsa Mosque Imam and former Grand Mufti of Palestine, Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, Israel’s retaliation. Sabri was evacuated from his residence in occupied East Jerusalem by Israeli police. ‘Middleest Monitor’ reported that his residence is also being demolished.

The Israeli authorities stormed Ikrima Sabri’s residence in Sawanih with a heavy police force during the day. Israel alleges that the building that houses Sabri’s residence was built illegally. He was thrown out of the house citing the same reason. Then a notice was posted outside the building announcing the demolition of the building.

Locals say that the building was built years ago. There are also 18 shelters where more than 100 Palestinians live. Israeli authorities have not released any official explanation for the new measure. Sabri also did not comment on this.

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri is an internationally renowned Palestinian scholar. He is also the head of the Supreme Islamic Council and Higher Islamic Authority (Awqaf) in Palestine. He has been serving as the Imam of Al-Aqsa Mosque for many years. There have been Israeli actions once morest Sabri before this.
