DOZENS of Palestinian civilians were killed and injured on Sunday (14/7) as a result of an Israeli airstrike that hit a school in the Nuseirat refugee camp, central Gaza.
“The death toll has reached more than 15 people and the school is accommodating refugees,” the report said. New ArabicMonday (15/7).
On Saturday (14/7), the Health Ministry in Gaza said the death toll from Israeli attacks on Al-Mawasi, where Palestinian refugees were taking shelter, had risen to at least 90.
Half of the dead were women and children, and there were 300 injured, many of them in critical condition.
In response, Israel said it had targeted a senior Hamas official, Hamas military chief Mohammed Deif, in the southern Gaza Strip. However, it was not certain whether he had been killed.
Hamas said Deif was fine and that Israel’s claims that it targeted the group’s leaders were false and aimed at justifying the strike.

Meanwhile, at least 17 Palestinians were killed and 50 others injured in Israeli attacks on Gaza City early Sunday.
The deaths were the result of at least four separate Israeli airstrikes on four homes in different parts of the city. Palestinian residents and health officials say the Israeli military has stepped up air and ground attacks.
The attack was the deadliest in Gaza for weeks, prompting a Hamas official to say the Palestinian group was pulling out of ceasefire talks in Gaza. (P-5)
