A TOTAL of 20 Palestinians were killed and several others injured on Friday (30/8) in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip. Medical sources at Nasser Hospital said the bodies of 10 Palestinians were brought from central and eastern Khan Younis, following the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the area.

Anadolu reported on Friday (8/30), the withdrawal marked the end of a 22-day military offensive on Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The attack left extensive damage, with residential buildings, roads and infrastructure badly damaged, according to witnesses.

Separately, medical sources told Anadolu Agency that three Palestinians were killed and several others injured in an airstrike by an Israeli drone in Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

In central Gaza, the body of a Palestinian and several wounded were taken to the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, following an Israeli drone attack on a group of civilians in the al-Masdar area east of Deir al-Balah.

Three more deaths were reported at the same hospital Thursday night after Israeli drones struck the al-Baraka Junction in central Deir al-Balah. In Gaza City, Israeli artillery has been shelling the al-Sabra and Zeitoun neighborhoods since Friday morning, destroying several residential buildings and homes in southern Zeitoun.

In the northern Gaza Strip, three Palestinians, including a child, were killed and others wounded in an Israeli drone strike on an apartment in the Jabalia refugee camp. Israel has continued its brutal attacks on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Oct. 7, despite a UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire.

The onslaught has resulted in more than 40,600 Palestinian deaths, mostly women and children, and more than 93,800 injuries, according to local health authorities. The ongoing blockade of Gaza has resulted in severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine, leaving much of the territory in ruins.

Israel is facing genocide charges at the International Court of Justice, which has ordered a halt to military operations in the southern city of Rafah, where more than a million Palestinians sought refuge before the area was stormed on May 6. (I-2)
