Tel Aviv: Israel widened the process of arresting Palestinians during airstrikes in Gaza. The famous Palestinian singer and neuroscientist Dalal Abu Amneh was arrested yesterday by the Israeli police.
Palestinian media reported that Amneh was arrested from her home in Nazareth, Israel, on charges of posting on social media. Amne posted an Arabic phrase which means ‘there is no winner but God’.
Lawyer Abir Bakr said that the Israeli police continue to interrogate Amne and she has been receiving threats from the Israelis for the past week.
World-renowned Palestinian visual artist Hiba Sakhout and her son were killed by Israeli bombs on Friday. Hiba Sakhout (39), a former student of Al-Aqsa University Faculty of Fine Arts in Gaza, and her child died in the Israeli bombardment in the Gaza Strip.
Sakhaout has produced numerous works on the themes of Palestinian survival and women’s empowerment and has been a prominent presence in international and national exhibitions. Hiba often depicted subjects that reflected deeply on Palestinian identity and existence. Palestinian cultural heritage including the Al Aqsa Mosque and minarets were reflected in the writings.
In 2021, he organized a solo exhibition titled “My Children in Quarantine”. Three days before his death, Zakhout wrote a post on Facebook and Instagram that prayed for strength to overcome Israel’s scapegoating.
