Israeli army: We are fighting at a high pace on the northern front and are ready for the next stage in Lebanon

Herzi Halevi added, “In the northern region, the fighting continues intensely, as we achieve achievements once morest the movement of the Lebanese factions without neglecting the suffering of the residents of the northern region in recent months.”

He continued, “We translate this suffering into determination to fight, and into real solutions to return citizens safely and with stability.”

He added, “We are ready for the next stage in Lebanon. These are days of war in which we are fighting for our existence and our future, and we do not have the right to stop even for a moment, as we have enough determination and patience.”

The Chief of Staff also referred in his statements to the bombing carried out by the Israeli warplanes on the Mawasi area of Khan Yunis on Saturday, which resulted in the killing of more than 90 people, half of whom were women and children, and the injury of 300 others, including serious cases.

The military official stated, “Yesterday, in a joint operation between the army and the General Security Service, we targeted a compound in Khan Yunis where Mohammed Deif, the commander of the military wing of the Palestinian factions movement, the mastermind and the one who issued the orders for the October 7 attack, was hiding, along with Rafeh Salama, the movement’s brigade commander, in addition to a number of other saboteurs and assistants.”

Halevy said, “This operation came as a result of the military capabilities that combine the precise intelligence information of the General Security Service and the Military Intelligence Corps and the qualitative planning and execution possessed by the Air Force.”

He stated that according to the available intelligence information, there were no kidnappers in the compound during the raid and no kidnappers were injured in the operation, noting that it is important to emphasize this.

He stressed in the context that it is still too early to fully assess the results of the raid in the Mawasi area west of Khan Yunis, and claimed that the Palestinian factions movement is trying to hide the results of the attack in Mawasi Khan Yunis, referring to the movement’s confirmation, through leaders in its ranks, that Al-Dhaif is fine.

The Israeli Chief of Staff threatened to continue pursuing Hamas leaders with the aim of assassinating and eliminating them.

The Chief of Staff explained that “these assassinations are part of the ongoing and changing military pressure that the Israeli army is exerting throughout the Gaza Strip. This is important in the framework of the systematic dismantling of the Palestinian factions’ movement and this is also very important to prepare the conditions for an agreement to return the hostages.”

Halevy said that the Israeli army is ready to implement the terms of a possible deal with the Palestinian factions to exchange prisoners and cease fire in the Gaza Strip, stressing that “the agreement to recover the hostages has become necessary and urgent,” as he put it.

He added that “the Israeli army is exerting all the necessary pressure to create the best conditions for such an agreement and has been working in this manner since the end of the previous agreement,” noting that the army will know how to abide by any agreement approved by the political level, as well as following the end of the ceasefire, and return and fight with great force if necessary.

He stressed in the context that the army will not stop working to free the kidnapped and will not give up on continuing to strike the Palestinian factions until this goal is achieved, and that the Israeli forces will not give up on ensuring the security of the Israelis.
