Israeli army confiscates 441 dunums of land in central West Bank

Palestine – The Israeli army confiscated 441 dunums of Palestinian land west of the city of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank yesterday, Tuesday, while its forces stormed several towns and arrested 4 Palestinians.

The Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission said in a statement that the Israeli army confiscated “441 dunams (a dunam equals 1,000 square meters) of citizens’ lands in the villages of Shibtin, Deir Ammar, and Deir Qadis, west of Ramallah.”

She explained that this confiscation aims to “tighten control over all the lands surrounding the Nili and Na’ali settlements, which are built on citizens’ lands.”

She added, “The targeted area constitutes a group of plots surrounding the two colonies, and completes what the occupying state has seized in the past years.”

The United Nations confirms that settlements in the occupied territories are illegal, and has called for decades for a halt to them, warning that they undermine the chances of resolving the conflict according to the principle of a two-state solution (Palestinian and Israeli).

Last June, Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich confirmed the authenticity of an audio recording obtained by the New York Times in which he spoke regarding a secret plan to annex the occupied West Bank to Israel and abort any attempt to become part of the Palestinian state.

Raids and arrests

According to the official Palestinian news agency (WAFA), the Israeli army stormed on Tuesday evening “the towns of Ya’bad, Araba, Faqqu’a and Jalbun in Jenin” in the northern West Bank.

She added that the army imposed a “tight siege on the town of Ramin, east of Tulkarm, and turned it into a military barracks, following closing all its main entrances.”

According to the agency, the army continues to storm the town of Ramin and deploy foot and mobile military patrols in its streets and alleys.

She added: “The occupation forces also climbed onto the roofs of houses following raiding and searching them and forcing their owners to leave following interrogating them, and seized surveillance camera recordings from houses and shops.”

Earlier on Tuesday, the Israeli military claimed that Palestinians “opened fire on an Israeli vehicle near the Ramin Junction.”

The Red Star of David (Israeli ambulance service) reported via the “X” platform that the shattered glass resulting from the shooting at the car caused 3 people to be slightly injured.

According to WAFA, the army arrested 4 Palestinians: “A young man from the village of Al-Minya, southeast of Bethlehem (south), and three citizens at a military checkpoint at the northern entrance to the city of Jericho (east).”

Hassan Malihat, general supervisor of the Al-Baidar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights (civil society), said in a statement that “settlers stormed the Al-Auja Spring watercourse north of Jericho this evening (Tuesday).

He added that they “painted the flag of the occupying state on the canal through which the water from the main spring flows, and provoked the citizens who come to the water canal to obtain water for themselves and their livestock.”

He stated that repeated raids on the Auja water spring aim to “impose gradual control over the water, leading to depriving the Palestinians of it, and pressuring the Bedouin communities to relocate.”
