Jerusalem, April 7, 2024 (Xinhua) – The Israeli army announced today (Sunday) the completion of “another phase” of the preparations of the Northern Command on the border with Lebanon for war, explaining that it comes within the framework of preparation for the transition from defense to attack and for the purpose of large-scale recruitment of reserve soldiers.

The army said in a statement published by its spokesman to the Arab media, Avichay Adraee, on his account on the (X) platform today, that “during the last days, another stage of the Northern Command’s preparations for the war was completed.”

He continued that this stage “centered on raising the eligibility of operational emergency depots for the purpose of large-scale recruitment of Defense Army forces when necessary,” adding that “the equipment and means in the depots are maintained by communications, computing, and logistics and medical personnel affiliated with the Technologies and Logistics Authority.”

He added that this stage “allows for the immediate recruitment of reserve forces in case of emergency and their arrival to the front line within a short period with all the equipment necessary for combat.”

He explained, “The commanders of the regular and reserve units are ready to summon and provide all required fighters with equipment within just a few hours, then transfer them to the front line to perform defensive and offensive tasks.”

The Israeli army indicated in its statement that, “Over recent months, an in-depth learning process has been conducted based on the lessons learned from the fighting in the southern region, as part of improving readiness for the day of command.”

Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been exchanging bombing and shooting across the Lebanese-Israeli border since the outbreak of war between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel in the Gaza Strip on October 7th.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant recently threatened to continue and intensify attacks once morest Hezbollah in Lebanon, even if a ceasefire agreement is reached and detainees are released in the Gaza Strip.

The mutual bombardment led to deaths and injuries on both sides, in addition to the displacement of more than 60,000 Israelis from the northern towns adjacent to the border with Lebanon, which also witnessed a similar displacement of civilians in the south towards safer areas in northern Lebanon. /end of news/
