Israel has presented to Gaza truce mediators its reservations about Hamas’ proposal to release the hostages and considers this round of negotiations in Cairo to be over, a senior Israeli official said.

The Israeli delegation is already returning from the Egyptian capital and Israel will proceed with its operations in Rafah and other areas of the Gaza Strip as planned, he added according to Reuters.

Earlier, the Hamas delegation also left Cairo, as negotiations for a cease-fire in Gaza reached an impasse after the Israeli raids in Rafah.

In a statement, the Palestinian organization said that Israel’s invasion of Rafah and the seizure of the border crossing were aimed at thwarting the efforts of diplomats and escalating the war, al jazeera reported.

He did, however, confirm the organization’s “commitment and commitment” to the current ceasefire proposal.
