Israel will not attack Iran before Passover. A US source revealed this to the American broadcaster ABC. This year’s calendar for “Pesach”, the Jewish Easter, foresees that it will begin on the evening of April 22nd and end on the 30th of the month. According to the source cited, however, this information is also dependent on the development of the situation on the ground: the same deep throat speaks of a state of maximum alert in Iran due to the risk of an attack.
In the meantime, some background information on the balance in this moment of war arrives. Israel began, then stopped preparations for a retaliatory attack on Iran on at least two occasions overnight last week. Since Tehran attacked Israel with more than 300 drones and missiles on Saturday night, Tel Aviv has been weighing how and when to respond to the attack, during successive war cabinet meetings Sunday, Monday and Tuesday between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former Chief of Staff Benny Gantz and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. Israel’s war cabinet has been weighing a range of responses, from attacking Iranian ‘proxies’ in the region, but not on Iranian soil, to a potential cyberattack. But now time has been taken.
