Israel.. The Hebrew media talks about a strategic mistake related to the offensive missile force

The Hebrew newspaper referred to an attempt to find out the reason for the Air Force’s opposition to equipping itself with offensive missiles and looked at the advantage of missiles compared to advanced combat aircraft and also at the amount of time and money required to create an effective and lethal missile force in the hands of the Israeli army.

The newspaper pointed out that millions of Israelis are already accustomed to entering and leaving protected areas as a result of missile attacks coming from Iran, Lebanon and Yemen, and described the matter as “a head in the sand and a missile in the sky.”

A strategic decision for Iran

She recalled the strategic decision when Iran decided that “building a group of threatening missiles around Israel is better than creating and maintaining an expensive and complex air force.”

She added: “While Israel invested more and more resources in the air force and in multi-layered active defense systems against missiles, the intention to create an offensive missile force as a possible response in time of war was neglected.”

Yedioth Ahronoth reported that opponents of the missile force justified the matter by saying that it has limited operational effectiveness and that it is a more expensive solution than aircraft, a one-time operational solution, and insufficient compared to combat aircraft.

I reviewed the proposals of former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman to establish a missile body and a group of precise “surface-to-surface” missiles with a range of up to 300 kilometers, which would be part of the ground arm of the Israeli army. However, that Israeli missile body was not established.
