Israel takes revenge on Houthis, bombs Yemen port, 3 civilians dead, 87 injured

“Israel” retaliated once morest a “Houthi” attack on Hodeidah port in Yemen, killing 3 people and injuring 87 following the Houthis secretly launched a drone bomb into the center of Tel Aviv on Friday, narrowly escaping the warning sirens.

Reuters reported yesterday (20 July) that Israel attacked Houthi rebels near Hodeidah Port (Hodeidah port) in Yemen on Saturday, killing at least three people and wounding 87. The attack came following Iran-backed rebels shot down a drone bomb in central Tel Aviv, Israel’s key economic hub.

The Houthi-run Al-Masirah TV, citing the health ministry, said most of the injured suffered serious burns due to the attacks on Israeli oil and power plants.

Residents in Hodeidah told Reuters they heard explosions across the city as Israel bombed it, while Al-Masirah TV reported that civil defense forces and firefighters were working to extinguish a fire in a port fuel tank.

An Israeli military spokesman said: The Houthis use the port to transport weapons from Iran. And the target port is more than 1,700 kilometers from Israel, including dual-use storage targets such as energy infrastructure.

Israel has already informed its allies ahead of its counter-offensive once morest the Houthis, with the military saying it has usedF-15 fighter jets in the attack on the port, all ships returned safely.

The Houthi Supreme Political Council hit back, saying: The army will take severe revenge for such attacks.

“Yahya Saree,” a spokesman for the Houthi military, said: The Houthis will not hesitate to attack key enemy targets such as Israel.

The attack on Hodeidah port has raised concerns that the war in Gaza might spread conflict across the region.

Yoav Gallant,” the Israeli Defense Minister said in a statement.

“The fire that burned Hodeidah was visible across the Middle East and the magnitude of it was clear… The Houthis have attacked us more than 200 times and for the first time ever, they have injured Israeli civilians. We are attacking back and we will do so wherever we have to.”

Israel’s retaliation came following the Houthis launched a drone into Tel Aviv on Friday, which exploded in a central apartment building, killing one Israeli and wounding four others. The drone was not intercepted because its air raid sirens did not work.

Friday’s Houthi attack came following Israeli and Hezbollah forces exchanged increasingly fierce fire in southern Lebanon by day as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prepares to travel to Washington to address Congress.
