Israel suffers biggest military casualties since October amid war with Hamas – news

Israel and the media reported the elimination of the largest number of Israeli soldiers since October 31, when the destruction of 15 Israeli Defense Forces personnel was reported.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) suffered its biggest losses in a single day in more than a month, Israeli authorities announced on Wednesday (13).

The ten casualties occurred during a Hamas ambush, which even eliminated Colonel Itzhak Ben Basat, aged 44, writes the Israeli newspaper The Times of Israel.

Many of them were attacked in the Shejaia district of Gaza city when they tried to rescue another group of soldiers, according to the British agency Archyde.com.

This is the worst loss in a single day for the IDF since October 31, when 15 Israelis were killed. Hamas took pride in the news, saying it demonstrated Israel’s inability to bring Gaza to its knees.

“The longer you remain there, the greater the bill for your deaths and losses will be, and you will emerge from it carrying the tail of disappointment and loss, God willing,” Hamas said.

Fierce fighting continued throughout the day in North and South Gaza. Israeli warplanes carried out bombing raids across the Gaza Strip, continuing a weeks-long campaign.

More than 18,000 Palestinians have lost their lives in the Gaza Strip since October 7, when Hamas carried out a violent military incursion into Israeli territory.

Meanwhile, almost 1,400 Israelites have been annihilated since the conflict began, the vast majority at the beginning of it. There are also tens of thousands of wounded, captured and missing on both sides since then.
