Israel makes biggest land seizure in West Bank in decades

The movement that advocates for peace and the end of the occupation, Peace Now, denounced this Wednesday that Israel has approved carrying out the largest land confiscation, in more than three decades, in the West Bank.

Through its website, the organization indicated that the Israeli authorities recently approved the expropriation of 12,7 square kilometers of land in the Jordan Valley, it reported. Telesur.

According to Peace Now, this action represents the largest expropriation approved since the Oslo Accords of 1993, when progress was made in the peace process between the parties to the conflict.

“The declaration of state lands is one of the main methods by which the State of Israel attempts to assert its control over the lands of the occupied territories. The lands declared state are no longer considered the private property of Palestinians in the eyes of Israel, and they are prevented from using them,” the movement noted.

More illegal settlements in the West Bank

In addition, local media have reported that Israel’s Supreme Planning Council plans to meet to approve the construction of 5.300 colonial units in the West Bank, despite international rejection of the settlements.

The United Nations (UN) has stated that colonization in the occupied territories is illegal and has asked that its execution be stopped, warning that it undermines the possibility of resolving the conflict.

This occurs when nine months have passed since the aggression of Israel once morest the Palestinian people in Gaza, leaving 37.953 people murdered and another 87.262 injured to date, according to health authorities.
