Israel: Hezbollah hit the city of Kiryat Shmona with rockets

Alarm sirens sounded after midnight in the area, and shortly after Israeli media reported that rescuers rushed to Kiryat Shmona, where at least one building was hit by a rocket.

The Times of Israel newspaper reports that there are no reports of injuries, citing Israeli police sources.

Meanwhile, explosions were heard today in Latakia, Syria amid an Israeli airstrike, as reported by the Syrian News Agency (SANA).

The country’s air defense was mobilized to intercept enemy targets in the skies over Lattakia, SANA reports.

So far there is no information about casualties.

Israel has intensified its strikes in Syria in parallel with the escalation of its military operations in Lebanon, where for three weeks it has been pounding strongholds of the pro-Iranian Hezbollah.

Since Syria’s civil war broke out 13 years ago, Israel has launched hundreds of airstrikes in its neighboring country, usually targeting Iranian-backed forces and Syrian army positions.

Israel rarely comments on strikes in Syria on a case-by-case basis, but has repeatedly stressed that it will not allow Iran – which backs President Bashar al-Assad’s government – to build up its presence in the country.
