Israel: Hezbollah for “first time” fired ballistic missile at Tel Aviv – Mossad headquarters targeted

“This is the first time that a Hezbollah rocket has reached the Tel Aviv area. It was intercepted” by the Israeli army, a spokesman for Israel’s armed forces said.

A little earlier, the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah had announced that it had launched a ballistic missile against the general headquarters of the Mossad, Israel’s foreign security agency, near Tel Aviv.

“The Islamic Resistance launched a Qader 1 ballistic missile at 06:30 (local and Greek time) on Wednesday (…) targeting the general headquarters of the Mossad in a suburb of Tel Aviv,” Hezbollah announced.

The Shiite movement added that the Mossad was “responsible for the assassination of Hezbollah leaders” and the explosions of the group’s radios and buzzers.

Warning sirens sounded in Tel Aviv today as Israel’s air defense system intercepted a surface-to-surface missile detected entering Israeli airspace from Lebanon, the Israeli military said.

“After sirens sounded in the Tel Aviv and Netanya areas, a surface-to-surface missile originating from Lebanon was detected and intercepted by air defense,” a military spokesman said.

There were no reports of casualties or damage, and the military said there were no changes to the orders issued regarding civilian protection in central Israel.
