Israel-Hamas Truce: Update on Hostages and Prisoner Releases

2023-11-27 13:34:00

This is the number of hostages and prisoners released so far as part of the agreement between Israel and Hamas

The truce between Israel and Hamas set the stage for the release of at least 50 women and minors held captive in Gaza in exchange for the release of at least 150 Palestinian women and minors held in Israeli prisons.

As we move into day four of the truce, here’s what we’ve seen so far:

Israeli hostages: Hamas freed 40 Israeli hostages: 13 on Friday, 13 on Saturday and 14 on Sunday.

Some of them have dual citizenship, including 4-year-old Abigail Edan, who is an Israeli-American citizen.

Those released include:

21 minors aged 18 or younger

11 adult women

7 women aged 65 or older

and Roni Krivoy, a Russian-Israeli man who was released as a special case, outside the parameters of the agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Foreign hostages: 18 foreign nationals, including 17 Thai nationals and 1 Filipino national.

These 18 foreign nationals released from Gaza were released as part of separate negotiations and are not included in the agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Prisoners released in Israel: So far, 117 women and minors have been released from Israeli prisons: 39 on Friday, 39 on Saturday and 39 on Sunday.

The total included:

28 adult women

2 teenage women

87 male adolescents aged 18 years or younger.

Of all the released Palestinian prisoners, 41 had been tried and sentenced and 76 were in administrative detention, meaning they were unaware of the charges against them and were not involved in a legal prosecution or trial process.

The original agreement between Israel and Hamas says the truce will continue for four days as long as Hamas releases at least 10 Israeli hostages each day.
